The phenomenal work of artisan Joanne Kim is some of the best hand painted furniture and decorative finishes in today’s market.
Gilding, raised designs, ornamentation….she does it all.
Images are transferred on the surface to be painted and then the magic begins.
Growing up in a family of artist in South Korea, Joanne received her BA in South Korea and continued studies in America. Here, she adds red bole prior to gilding the asian inspired designs.(source)
Almost any surface can be made decorative with Kim’s talents.
Inspired yet? Her skills are professional and her designs precise and well executed.
Studies on her use of space in creating her designs is a vital lesson in itself.
Her talents have taken her all around the world to create many types of ornamental art.(source)
Joanne has a wonderful page on facebook that features a large volume of photos of her work. Check out her website and facebook page and learn a few lessons from a master.

Wow, wow and wow. Did I say wow? I am a furniture ‘nut’ – others may say the nut thing wanders into other areas, but I digress. This is something only found in rare circumstances. I am thrilled beyond measure to see that artisanry is so very alive and beautifully well. Thank you!
