I have been a fan of Karen Hetzer for several years….maybe her top fan! With her blog , she shares the ups and downs of being a self employed decorative artist.  She shares everything from selling almost everything she had and leaving the profession…only  to return to what she does so well.

She has tried selling work on etsy…..with not a lot of luck.

She has painted some beautiful furniture over the years and shares many of the pieces on her blog.

…also painting some elaborate children’s furniture on a huge scale.

But the furniture has always been a mainstay….she does it so well!

She’s not too shabby with mural work either but, even the proficient painters have been hit by the economy and had to make adjustments.

I swooned over Karen’s painted screens….done way before the Johnny Depp  movies.

The images could be seen from the street but did not block the view from the inside….very clever!

Karen is a diversified artist painting all sizes from miniature panels…..
